The development aims to enhance the city’s infrastructure, hospitality industry, and public spaces to accommodate the rising number of pilgrims and visitors expected under the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 program.
Announced by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the project will cover 12 million square meters and feature a mix of residential, commercial, hospitality, and cultural facilities, along with nearly 900,000 indoor and outdoor prayer spaces. This initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s ongoing investment in sustainable urban development and advanced construction capacity within the holy city.

Driving Construction Growth and Economic Opportunities

Developed by RUA AlHaram AlMakki Co., a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the project is expected to create over 300,000 jobs during the next decade. It represents a key milestone in diversifying the Saudi economy through large-scale construction and infrastructure development.
Recent renderings released by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) showcase modern high-rise towers and pedestrian-oriented designs that merge contemporary architecture with traditional cultural identity. The construction phase will incorporate advanced building technologies, sustainable materials, and energy-efficient systems that align with national environmental goals.
As Saudi Arabia advances landmark developments such as NEOM, Diriyah Gate, and King Salman Gate, its construction sector is entering a new era of innovation and growth. These projects reinforce the Kingdom’s global leadership in smart urban planning, while supporting its ambition to host more than 30 million pilgrims annually by 2030.
